This series juxtaposes historic cartographic labeling and hobo glyphs (the meaning of which are noted in each title), two ways of notating the existence of known unknowns from two different cultural contexts, onto snippets from the Hubble Deep Field image. These pieces are multi-generational collaborations, with a making process that spanned decades. My late maternal grandfather worked on the Hubble in Sunnyvale, CA when I was a kid without a much of a clue of the significance of his work and before it departed our little planet.
