As an artist and an American with a conscience and empathy who experienced many struggles to make a living while the leader of the free world demonstrated a troubling knack for abusing power, my appreciation for science experienced a renewal during the rule of the 45th president of the United States.
This work was made with the intention of catalyzing ego checks and/or boosts while reminding viewers of how we all exist in connection to a context that is stupendously larger than ourselves.

Coincidentally, sometime between the time I spent sketching out concepts for this piece and the moment I got started physically making it, NASA celebrated the famous image’s 30th anniversary by republishing a sharper new version of it.
