Matter Out of Place documents a small handful of human artifacts found embedded within the Black Rock Playa in November 2010 (two months after Burning Man). The geographic context is drastically condensed in scale to emphasize the objects' minuscule physical presence, yet great symbolic value in regard to Black Rock City, LLC's 'Leave No Trace' policy — an agreement between the Burning Man Festival organizers and the Indigenous stewards of the land upon which the festival happens.
